Social work values have been always emphasized in both social work education and practice. However, empirical studies on the level of social work Wvalue orientation and its effects have been very scarce. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of social work value orientation and the relationship between social work value orientation and organizational commitment among social workers working in the mental health field. A total of 146 social workers participated in this study. Followings are the major findings of this study. First, among the four social work values measured by a Korean version of the Professional Opinion Scale, the level of orientation toward social responsibility was highest. Second, social work value orientation is positively associated with organizational commitment in bivariate analyses. Third, social work value orientation is also related with organizational commitment in multivariate analyses. In both analyses, social responsibility is the most strongly related social work value with organizational commitment. Implications for social work education and practice were provided.
